Every year we love participating in HHCD. It is an amazing experience that I know that not only my team enjoy, but also all of the attendees on the day. To be able to access so many services in one place, and without stigma is certain to create a brighter future for all who attend. Congratulations for another successful event

This day is like my Christmas Day.

8 hairstylists came that didn’t know each other and all left as friends. It was a great thing to be a part of.

I really enjoyed seeing friendly faces, and having someone to chat to.

The day was a great opportunity for Reach Homeless Services to reconnect with those who we see on a regular basis and just as importantly to introduce our service to those who are looking for assistance. We felt that the attendees were really appreciate of the event and were grateful of the community and public support.

A mother came into the HHCD event and explained that her daughter has been couch surfing and that she was both worried about her and did not know what to do. I was able to explain Link 2 Home, and conveniently send her to relevant support services in the same building.

Two women from The Big Issue Street Soccer Program came along to Hunter Homeless Connect Day. They have experienced trauma and social isolation and in previous years did not feel comfortable attending without support workers. They are now more familiar with HHCD and were able to come along without their support workers and participate in soccer as well as accessing other services. We should not underestimate the value of people attending homeless connect day as a means of breaking down social isolation and how just the act of turning up is significant in them overcoming anxiety and social phobias.
Great partnerships were formed on the day between Health Change Challenge, NSW Office of Sport, NRL and The Big Issue Street Soccer Program. Participants were able to try each of the different activities and having set times for Healthy Change Challenge, soccer games and other activities worked well.

What an amazing day where so many great people came together to serve and make a difference to the lives of those experiencing a difficult season right now! The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Bravo to all involved to create such a respectful and quality event.

I ate my lunch with a beautiful lady attending and she said the Hunter Homeless Connect Day was her Christmas Day. It really gave me some perspective on what that day means to so many people and I feel so privileged to be a part of it
